Dallas International Film Festival Announces Grand Jury Prizes and Audience Awards

DALLAS, May 2023 – DIFF 2023 has announced the Grand Jury Prizes and Audience Awards for its 17th Festival, which wrapped May 5 and included screenings of more than 100 films submitted from over 60 countries.

Jurors included Ashton Campbell, Liz Cardenas, Giovannie Cruz, Chris Dowling, Anne Fleitas, Chris Gardner, David Gil, Josh Hurtado, Korey Miller, Christian Vasquez, and Justina Walford. Winners included:


Best Texas Feature – INTO THE SPOTLIGHT (cast members pictured above)

Special Jury Prize for Diversity in Casting and Excellent Cinematography – MATCH ME IF YOU CAN

Best Documentary Feature – BAD PRESS

Special Jury Prize for Storytelling – THE ETERNAL MEMORY

Best Narrative Feature – STORY AVE

Special Jury Prize for Outstanding Performance – Rosy McEwen, BLUE JEAN

Dallas County Historical Commission Prize for Best Historical Film – BREAKING THE CODE

Best Texas Short Film – GREEN WATER

Best Documentary Short Film – REALLY GOOD FRIENDS


Best Animated Short Film – TODAY, I WILL BE THE BREAD

Best Student Film within the Shorts Competition – PICTURE DAY

Special Jury Prize for Short – OUR MALES AND FEMALES

“We were honored to participate in the winner selection process, during which we deliberated for hours,” said jury member Chris Gardner. “These were all amazing films and it was an honor to be involved in this year’s incredible Dallas International Film Festival.”

DIFF 2023 was held April 28-May 5, 2023. The 2023 Dallas International Film Festival was cited by Travel + Leisure magazine in naming Dallas among the “12 Best Places to Travel in April 2023”. The festival was also cited by MovieMaker magazine in naming Dallas among the “Best Places to Live and Work as a MovieMaker 2023”.
