DIFF Announces New 2024 Summer Programming

DIFF has announced its 2024 summer programming, which will give movie lovers two compelling reasons to go out to area movie theaters, BEST OF DIFF 2024, July 12 through 14, and the inaugural DIFF SHORTS Film Festival 2024, August 23 through 25. BEST OF DIFF 2024 will be hosted by LOOK Dine-In Cinemas Northwest Highway. A location for DIFF SHORTS will soon be announced.

“As a year-round film organization, DIFF is fully committed to the in-theater experience and happy to share these two good news items, especially in the wake of recent closures of some beloved North Texas movie theaters,” said DIFF Artistic Director James Faust. “BEST OF DIFF 2024 will give viewers a chance to see the films that received honors at this year’s Dallas International Film Festival in the spring, and the inaugural DIFF SHORTS Film Festival will champion the art of short films and their filmmakers, focusing solely on cinematic gems that elevate the short film.”

BEST OF DIFF 2024 will open with STAKES IS HIGH on Friday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, PRINT IT BLACK screens at 2:00 p.m., SHORTS BLOCK at 4:30 p.m., and BASTARDS OF SOUL at 7:30 p.m. Sunday screenings will include PORCELAIN WAR at 1:00 p.m., WATER WARS at 3:00 p.m., and RIDE at 6:00 p.m. All DIFF 2024 passholders will be admitted free with their DIFF 2024 badge. Individual tickets for each screening are $10, and will be on sale Monday, June 17 at https://bestofdiff.eventive.org.

Elevating short films and celebrating shorts filmmakers, DIFF SHORTS Film Festival 2024 will feature 14 film blocks with more than 80 films, industry panels, daily red carpets, and filmmaker receptions. Film enthusiasts will be able to connect with filmmakers through Q&As and panel discussions, learn about their creative processes, and be inspired by their stories shown on the big screen and shared at the festival. The schedule and venue will be announced soon. Passes are $75 and are available now at https://diffshorts2024.eventive.org/passes/buy.

Awards at the DIFF SHORTS Film Festival 2024 will be given for Best Short Film, Best Texas Film, Best Music Video, Best Student Film, Best Documentary Film, and Best First-Time Filmmaker.

“Announcing these two additions to our year-round programming is a big move for us,” added DIFF CEO Beth Wilbins. “BEST OF DIFF and the DIFF SHORTS Film Festival now take their place as DIFF signature programs alongside the annual Dallas International Film Festival, which just celebrated its 18th edition this spring. It’s exciting to expand our opportunities to showcase more filmmaker voices, plus give moviegoers more great reasons to visit a local cinema.”

Support for the DIFF SHORTS Film Festival 2024 is provided by The City of Dallas Office of Arts & Culture.
