Festival Experts Share Tips with Filmmakers

WORKSHOP SERIES HOSTED BY DALLAS FILM COMMISSION

What do film fests look for? What are the best methods for getting festivals to program your film? These were the questions that brought a full house to Texas Theatre on April 11 for a workshop presented by the Dallas Film & Creative Industries Office, “You’ve Made a Short Film, How to Get it into Film Festivals.”

DIFF Artistic Director James Faust joined a panel of experts from the film festival and filmmaking world on April 11 to share tips, tricks, advice and practical information with the filmmakers in attendance for how to get their short films into the best film festivals.

Moderated by Dallas Film Commissioner Tony Armer, who founder of the Sunscreen Film Festival, the speakers included award-winning filmmaker Merced Elizondo; Barak Epstein and Ashton Campbell, co-founders of Oak Cliff Film Festival; Rebekah Louisa Smith, The Film Festival Doctor; Bart Weiss, founder of VideoFest; and James Faust, DIFF Artistic Director.
